outgrown
I passed my jogging stroller on to my sister for her to use with my niece. I tried to run with Jillian last weekend and oh my, it was a struggle. All other baby paraphernalia has been easy to give up, but this has been used for the past almost seven years. Car seats have come and gone, clothes went, but this was my one thing that has been used the most. Bry asked "Can I pay you for it?" I said "No, just give it back when you are done." I will probably store it in my garage forever. Brad can rig up some hooks from the ceiling, this will be my pack rat item. As you can see in the pictures, clearly I should have passed it on awhile ago.

rock chalk sleepy jillhawk
On Saturday we ventured to Lawrence for our first KU game of the season. The weather was a bit iffy at first, and we spent some time in the concourse waiting for the storm to pass. The evening ended up being very pleasant. After we got some snacks, Jillian refused to eat, saying her throat hurt. She had slept the entire way to Lawrence, but she had played hard all day. She told us she just wanted to lay down. After wiggling around on Brad's lap, I ended up moving to the row behind us where there was an open spot. Little Stinker sprawled out and slept from the beginning of the 2nd quarter until the beginning of the 4th quarter. We had a popcorn bag waiting, in case she woke up vomiting. Which is usually what she does when she acts like this. In the midst of this Mia Kate had hooked up with her Great Grandparents and was going to go home with them after the game. When Jillian awoke, she was a little confused and upset, so we quickly left. We had been walking about 10 minutes when she said "Um, did we forget Mia?"
***Notice the stuffed dog in all pictures? That is Poke, her Portuguese Water Dog/Webkinz. Early Saturday morning she picked out his outfit, which was a KU sweatshirt and hoodie that used to be mine for Cabbage Patch Kids. She dressed him and loaded him in the car. We get out of the car and Brad saw this..... needless to say, things weren't looking good for Poke. If you know Brad, toys in a public place = germs, does not fly. He must have decided not to pick this battle, because obviously Poke is a Jayhawk now! I think she knew she was going to sleep and needed something to snuggle.
10k
I ran my first 10k last weekend. It was on our summer list as my personal challenge. A teaching friend and I ran, ran, ran all summer. It definitely paid off. I finished much faster than any time I had ran that distance in training. Brad and the girls arrived at the finish line about 2 minutes before I did. They thought they would have time to spare, but I surprised them (and myself :) Brad commented that it didn't look like I was struggling at the end, and I wasn't. I think training in the heat made racing in the breeze a real breeze.
The girls did their first 1k as well. Jillian had been "training" for it. She would run around the block, on her tiptoes. Even on a few bike rides she wanted off the bike so she could run. She asked to practice. Mia, didn't want to participate because it "hurt her hip." Which turns out was her ribs, from being out of breath. Race day comes. Mia runs the whole thing and finished saying "That was easy. It was too short, I thought we would at least run in the street." Jillian, super trainer, cried and I ended up running with her on my shoulders. Of course a little bit before the finish she said "Ok, I want down." and ran the finish. Sounds about right.
*Inbetween races their was face painting.
