Winter Fun

Jilli had her first piano recital, both girls performed wonderfully!

Lego building!

We had a lot of snow (5 WONDERFUL snow days!!!!!) I saw a quote on Pinterest that said "Snow days are God's way of telling teachers that he still loves them." They are such a blessing to our family.

Snow Days

Last Thursday and Friday we had an awesome snowstorm. I love snow. Our new house is up a huge, steep hill. As we were looking at it this summer, Brad said "You know you aren't getting out of here in a snowstorm. " That was in July when we saw triple digits. In my glass half empty attitude I dramatically said something about it never snowing again. Fast forward 7 months and sure enough, not going anywhere. Except Brad, who had to walk 6 blocks out of our neighborhood to the main road to get picked up for work. Awesome.

The plow did come just in time for a surprise 10th Anniversary Date on the Plaza. Brad said he got me my favorite things, snow and a day off work.

The girls built snow bear/girl a few days later.

Snow Days: Round 2

A great day to catch up on my blog. I have been crossing my fingers for snow days since August, but 3 in the past week is a huge blessing! The girls are in pajamas and having a Barbie marathon. I have been grading papers but being a little lazy as well. Plus the Jayhawks earned a much needed W last night.

M.I.A.

In the midst of "the blizzard" I decided that I needed to pull it together. Meaning that I am now arising from my slumber much earlier than my children. That equals going to bed earlier and not messing on the computer, or blogging. Here is a sprinkle of what we have been doing .....
Mia had two ear infections, ouch.

Jilli's school now allows backpacks and you can't wipe the smile off my face. Everytime I would pick her up from school my front seat ended up looking like a preschool explosion. Lunchbox, froggy, her "cuttings" from the day, paintings, scribble paper, etc. Disaster.

She is excited too!

Mia Kate lost her 3rd tooth.

Did I mention that I am on a bowling league? Ha. Seriously, I bowl one morning a week with my Grandma and Aunt. Jillian goes with me and colors or enertains all of the ladies. The ladies are actually a wee bit older than me, but whip me in bowling.

Brad and I joined some other Kindergarten parents for Trivia Night at school. We did a guys table and a girls table, girls beat the guys.

Mia qualified for Science Enrichment at school and their unit is bridges. The little engineer then checked out books on bridges at the library and enlisted Brad to help her build one on a snow day. She is the little expert now on footings and piers and all sorts of fun stuff that is beyond me.

Also over her snow days she completed her 100th day of school poster.

02.01.2011

It is snowing everywhere, "Blizzard of the Century" (or the past 11 years?) but here is our day. School was cancelled, but I awoke early to return a movie, turn in Girl Scout cookie money, and get a cup of ambition. Roads weren't too bad at that point.....

Then we worked on Valentine's. Jilli told us that she was changing her name to "From" that way "I don't have to write anything, because it already says my name "From." She is 3.

Lots of playing followed.
One of their dolls was sick. So she is napping with her puke bucket, notice the carpet surrounding her is covered in blankets. Gotta keep those white carpets clean! "Queen of the Mermaids"

"Princess Genovia"
They love the movie Princess Diaries,
which has a Princess Mia. I watched that movie about 4 months pregnant and loved the name, hence our Princess Mia.
The Royal Carriage.

M.K. went out with Brad @ 1:30

at that point they measured

Later the girls watched a movie and the adults caught up on the DVR. Brad shoveled again. We had dinner and baths and bed. School is off tomorrow again and I heard on the news that I-70 is closed from KC to St. Louis and Mo-Dot told snow plow drivers to go home. I wonder how much we will get total?
Today is also my brother's birthday! Happy Birthday Spencer!

Extra Day

Sunday night I stayed up extra late to make sure everything was ready to go for the morning. I had to work, plus take Jilli to school that day, it was going to be an early start. I had lunches packed, my car loaded, clothes laid out, etc. The phone beat my alarm clock, ringing at 5:30, "Enjoy your day Staci, no school!" The only time you really want to get an early morning phone call! I really was expecting it to snow all day Monday and have a snow day Tuesday.

I decided that it was just an extra day, no chores, but just an extra day with the girls. On a Monday I normally would have been away from them, but God gave us a fun day, so we played. We watched a DVR movie in bed, bundled up and went outside, came in and had lunches (the ones I packed the night before), watched another movie, napped, bundled back up and I pulled them around the block on sleds, dinner, bath, and then bed.

Snow Day #1
Rule: Must stay outside as long as it took Mom to dress us.

Grandpa Ron gave both girls a sled for Christmas last year. They had a ball using them! This snow was perfect, they blasted right down our little hill and across the driveway.

Snow Day #2: BRRR!!!
Today, another snow day, but a bitterly cold one. I did do chores, otherwise the girls would have had a laundry pile to sled down as well. :)
Weeeee!

Below is my favorite picture. Love it with her attitude and the snow plow in the background. This was around 10:00 and it was the snow plow's first swipe down our street. Shortly after this picture I said "Look it is the snow plow, wave girls." So they waved and the driver tooted his horn. Jillian then started crying because she said "It was too loud."
