Reuter Review: Day 5 (rock chalk)

Hopefully basketball season is better than football season. Yikes.
Our favorite coach has moved onward, but we have a great player to watch now! Go Number 10!

nice weather

We went to the KU/KSU game Saturday and really enjoyed the weather. The score, not so much.

true jayhawk & the runaway

This Saturday as we were walking up the hill to watch the band come down, we encountered Big Jay. We walked over to him and Mia was very excited to take her picture with him. Jillian didn't want her picture with him so she stood on the other side of the sidewalk in the picture below. Brad, Mia and I were all over by the Jayhawk. After several kids got their pictures taken I said "Jillian, come here and I will be in the picture with you." She shook her head and turned around and started running away from us, like on over the hill. I was running as fast as I could to catch her. Finally I caught her and she was almost in tears. No pictures.

rock chalk sleepy jillhawk

On Saturday we ventured to Lawrence for our first KU game of the season. The weather was a bit iffy at first, and we spent some time in the concourse waiting for the storm to pass. The evening ended up being very pleasant. After we got some snacks, Jillian refused to eat, saying her throat hurt. She had slept the entire way to Lawrence, but she had played hard all day. She told us she just wanted to lay down. After wiggling around on Brad's lap, I ended up moving to the row behind us where there was an open spot. Little Stinker sprawled out and slept from the beginning of the 2nd quarter until the beginning of the 4th quarter. We had a popcorn bag waiting, in case she woke up vomiting. Which is usually what she does when she acts like this. In the midst of this Mia Kate had hooked up with her Great Grandparents and was going to go home with them after the game. When Jillian awoke, she was a little confused and upset, so we quickly left. We had been walking about 10 minutes when she said "Um, did we forget Mia?"

***Notice the stuffed dog in all pictures? That is Poke, her Portuguese Water Dog/Webkinz. Early Saturday morning she picked out his outfit, which was a KU sweatshirt and hoodie that used to be mine for Cabbage Patch Kids. She dressed him and loaded him in the car. We get out of the car and Brad saw this..... needless to say, things weren't looking good for Poke.  If you know Brad, toys in a public place = germs, does not fly.  He must have decided not to pick this battle, because obviously Poke is a Jayhawk now! I think she knew she was going to sleep and needed something to snuggle.

The Orange Ball

Jillian went to the KU/Texas game with Brad yesterday. Mia is always on the receiving end of basketball tickets, and usually the one who gets to go when we are without a babysitter, actually she usually goes without us. Earlier this year Jillian caught on that Mia was going and not her. My grandma felt bad and so I told her just to take Jillian to a KU volleyball game, my cousin is on the team. Rumor has it that once they walked into the volleyball game, Jillian announced loudly "GRANDMA! This isn't a real KU game, I thought I was going to the one with the orange ball!"

The next day my grandma said "Staci, you said she wouldn't know the difference." Ha, obviously she did. Oops, sorry! So she went yesterday, proudly sporting her little cheerleader outfit. I don't know how much of the game Brad actually watched, we lost, but I am sure Jillian loved it!
