Jillian is going through a phase where she is scared of movies with real people, as opposed to cartoon characters. It could have started when she watched Wizard of Oz, but increased after watching Soul Surfer. Parent fail. After the teen got her arm unfortunately eaten off by a shark, she was done. I guess I don't blame her. She now won't even watch an American Girl movie, nothing remotely realistic. She did watch Harry Potter, but that is too fictional to happen to her, so no worries.
Several weeks after the movie drama this picture was taken. We yelled "Hey Soul Surfer!" as she was surfing on the tube because she looks like a little surfer dude with her straight California blonde hair. She DID not appreciate this at all. It reminded her too much of the trauma of the movie! A few nights later, in the safety of her land locked bedroom she was scared of none the less " Soul Surfer."
Mia and Brad meanwhile loved the movie and Brad really emphasized the message of never giving up in your dreams and you should be thankful for what you have. I didn't see the end as I was consoling Jillian, even plugging her ears because through the walls she could "STILL HEAR IT!"
Alleluia school was finally over! My family has voted that Summertime Stace is so much better(and nicer) than School Year Stace. I will work on that. Anyways the girls rocked Kindergarten and 2nd grade. Jilli is reading like a pro and Mia is working on division in math. Both are little scholars who put forth 100 percent effort on their work. We are so proud of their achievements! Note the photos however, Mia posed nicely. Jillian was having some sort of outfit issue (should wear uniforms even on the last day) and was uncooperative for a picture. So here she is the last day of Kindergarten! I am sure she would never do this for her teacher. Funny how I can successfully manage twenty-one 3rd graders, but not one 6 year old.
Jilli Bug turned 6 years old in May. Oh, she is just a little blonde package of energy and amusement. Her celebration was low key, but she was celebrated. She asked for cookie cake and a bird watching book and log. She loves birds and records any that she sees. She is too much to handle sometimes but we haven't had a dull moment in 6 years. We love you Jay Bird!!!!!
The meds are wearing off in this picture with Dad, but she has her trophy!
Jay-Bird danced this year to an appropriate dance, Yakkity Yak, Don't Talk Back. She knew her dance well and brought smiles to our faces. This is the first year I haven't recorded their dances ahead and had them practice, more Mom of the Year points there. We carpooled and I either just dropped off or picked up and didn't go in. Going into the show I was a bit nervous, and knew M.K. would pull it off. Jilli pulled it off as well!
Of course the girls were in separate shows and I spent 11 hours at the Lied Center. Surely that makes up for over medicating and lack of observing throughout the year. Thanks for the entertainment girls, you are awesome and we are so proud of you!!!!!
Near Mother's Day, Jilli's class hosted a sweet little tea program. Jilli insisted she wear the same dress Mia wore to her Mother's Day Tea. She also did this for the Father/Daughter dance, she really looks up to Mia.
Anyways, the tea was as sweet as Miss Jilli and I am so lucky to be her mom.
Jilli finished her softball season last night. She really enjoyed this sport and was quite the hitter. Of course she made some awesome dirt drawings as well.
